The design brief for this project was created from rebellious logo and brand identity designer James Martin or as he is more well-known as Made By James. If any of you have never taken a MBJ course I would highly recommend you do, like NOW! There are even free courses. This course was titled, "The Branded Type Course" and James goes through several hours of typographic history, principles, client applications, building your confidence, and a case study.
The end of the course prompts the MBJ Word Mark Project where you take what you've learned from the course and apply it to a practical, but real-life client scenario to create a custom logotype for the MBJ brand. The brief listed goals and objectives, client information, design requirements, and deliverables.
All-in-all this course and project was filled with impactful knowledge and insight. The project further helped developed my design and thinking process. From research, word mapping, sketching, iteration, and rationale this project was a great learning opportunity.
Here is my word mapping phase and initial sketches before finalizing my final concept for my custom logotype for 'Made by James.'
